Q. When did the Glencoe Foundation Start.
A. Glencoe Foundation Ltd was registered as a company, on 21st February 2002.

Q. Why was the motivation for starting the organisation.
A. Our student housing business takes us to visit Educational Agents in many countries. We saw an opportunity to offer very motivated young people with limited financial resources an opportunity to help realise their potential through education. From this start has come many opportunities to make a difference .

Q. Is the Foundation able to receive tax deductible gifts from the community.
A. Yes , we received endorsement as a deductible gift recipient from the Australian Taxation Office on 14th June 2002.

Q. Where does the money come from to run the programmes.
A. The Foundation owns a part of International House, MIBT's Residential Campus, from which it receives income. It also receives cash donations from Glencoe Developments Pty Ltd.

Q. Do you raise money from the community.
A. Friends of the Foundation have paid the college and university fees to enable Margaret, Karen, and Misozi to continue their education in Zambia. They also contributed to the purchase of the special bicycle to enable Hung in Hanoi to earn his living.

In November 2005 Glencoe Foundation joined with Rotary Club of Box Hill Central to start “Operation Cleft”. Operation Cleft funds life changing cleft palate and cleft lip operations in Bangladesh, Vietnam, Sri Lanka, India and Laos. We jointly fundraise for this programme. Glencoe Foundation pays all administrative and fundraising costs to ensure donated money goes directly to country programme costs.

Q. Do you receive any other assistance.
A. We receive no government funding, however we receive generous ongoing assistance from MIBT. Deakin University and Holmesglen College have also been very supportive towards the cost of educational fees for our Vietnamese Scholarship students. Our architects Nicholas and Alexander assisted in the design of the homes for Bethel Orphanage.

Q. Are you affiliated or connected with any religious group or political party.
A. No

Q. How do you see the future
A. We intend to grow our programmes in partnership with local communities. We expect those assisted now will work with us to contribute back to their communities. The Hanoi university teachers have indicated they wish to become actively involved in future and current projects.

The computer training programme in Phu Tho Province Vietnam is very successful. From 70 students, it now has over 1400 students learning basic computer skills. We have had difficulties in East Timor. We have completed our involvement with Computer Culture in Cape York : we look forward to further opportunities.

Our ongoing challenge for 2008 will be to continue to grow Operation Cleft working in partnership with Rotary. Our target this year is to fund 1500 life changing operations (www.operationcleft.org.au).

Q Who is AFAP ?
A Glencoe Foundation is a community partner with AFAP (www.afap.org). AFAP is a fully accredited NGO working in Africa, Asia and the Pacific. We receive expert advice and assistance from them at no charge.

Glencoe Foundation is an authorised tax deductible gift recipient. Funds we receive are distributed overseas by AFAP under their direction for our programmes.
