Colin Macfarlane made a Member of the Order of Australia (AM) in the Australia Day honours list.

20th January
E news from Martin Mutimba.
Our scholarship student from Lusaka, Zambia studying IT at National Institue of Public Administration.
"I passed my exams and am happy for that. In my classes, there are 96 students but only 50 have managed to pass, and I am in the top five of. I am sending the results to you"

18th January
Colin meets with Zane Lovitt in Melbourne to discuss final preparations for video production of Operation Cleft program to Jessore.

16th January

Colin returns from program at Lamb Hospital in Bangladesh. Visiting Australian and Belgium surgeons assisted in repairing facial clefts. American surgeon Dr Bob Bowers returns full time to Lamb Hospital in February. See examples of his work on the Operation Cleft website.

6th January

Presentation to 1800 Rotarians at Hassan in India on Operation Cleft. Discussions with our surgeon, Dr Naveen Rao, as to plans for cleft operations over next 12 months in Mangalore. Full details Operation Cleft website.

3rd January

Visit to Vietnam. The Glencoe Foundation now has strong links in Vietnam through our Australian scholarship program and the computer training program.

Attended celebrations for Hanoi University Business College's 5th anniversary. It was really good to see the teachers who studied under our scholarship.

Travelled to Dien Bien Phu and met Pan. Pan attended a scholarship tailoring course in Hanoi. She has now has a thriving dressmaking shop. Suggested she trained others, but she said she didn't want any competition!

Discussions with Phuong on the computer course. He wishes to expand to additional schools. We are now investigating software that allows up to eight monitors to run off one computer.
