In 1999 a series of concerts were held by Midnight Oil to raise money for East Timor .The money raised was invested and produces a yearly income of $A12 000. This money pays for the education of approximately 200 orphaned children in East Timor. Education fees vary from 50 per month to $6.
The Foundation pays the wages of
Monzinho
who has the responsibility of visiting schools and children and recording their progress.
The Foundation has a board of directors in Melbourne and is managed by Palmira Pires in Dili. Palmira also manages the ETDA Training Centre. This centre runs courses in Microsoft programmes. The Foundation donated ten new computers to the centre in 2004.
